在重庆市渝中区的钢铁设计院家属大院中，一间名为Sleeping Dogs的咖啡店悄然诞生。对店主而言，这不仅是一家店铺的开业，更像是一种回归——这里是他出生、成长的地方，也是父亲与祖父生活的故土。伴随城市更新的进程，院内的生活景象不断变化，而这间店的出现，像是一次关于“钢铁记忆”的重新唤醒。

Within the residential compound of the Steel Design Institute in Chongqing’s Yuzhong District, Sleeping Dogs Coffee quietly takes shape. For the owner, the café represents more than just its opening—it is a return to his roots: the place where he was born and raised, and where his father and grandfather once lived. As the neighborhood evolves amid the city’s ongoing renewal, the café emerges as a catalyst for reawakening the community’s memory of steel.

项目所在的建筑是一栋典型的老式民房，空间约70平方米。由于年代久远，外墙的水管与燃气管道裸露交错，墙体经过岁月侵蚀早已斑驳。面对这样的现状，我们希望以更轻巧的方式让其重新获得秩序与完整。外墙的改造从“隐藏”开始，我们以半透的阳光板包覆整个L形立面，将原本杂乱的外表整合为简洁、统一的体块，同时巧妙遮蔽裸露的设施，并预留检修门，保证后期维护的便利性。

The project occupies a typical old residential building, with a total area of approximately 70 square meters. Over time, the exterior has weathered, with water and gas pipes exposed and crisscrossing across the façade. Confronted with this condition, we aimed to restore order and coherence through a minimal intervention. The façade renovation began with the principle of concealment: the entire L-shaped exterior was wrapped in semi-translucent polycarbonate panels, transforming the previously cluttered surface into a clean, unified volume. Behind this covering, the exposed pipes are discreetly hidden, while access panels are integrated to ensure convenient maintenance.

室内整体保留了建筑原有的质感与痕迹。水泥地面经过打磨处理，旧墙面保留了粗粝的触感，老式楼板结构被完整呈现。粗糙的基底与金属的冷冽在光影中形成对比，使空间在硬朗中仍保有生活的温度。

The interior retains much of the building’s original texture and traces of time. The cement floor has been carefully polished, while the old walls preserve their coarse, tactile finish. The original slab structure of the ceiling remains fully exposed, revealing the space’s raw character. The rough surfaces and the coolness of metal form a subtle contrast under shifting light, allowing the space to maintain a sense of warmth amid its industrial hardness.

这间店兼具咖啡与烘焙的功能。我们将临街一侧规划为咖啡与就餐区，另一侧则作为烘焙后厨。咖啡区空间狭长，最深处几乎无法获得自然光。为此，我们在吧台区域设置了一个由角钢与阳光板构成的发光装置，柔和的灯带光线透过半透明的材质，为内部最昏暗的区域带来了温度与亮度。

The café integrates both coffee and baking functions. The street-facing side is organized as the café and seating area, while the opposite side accommodates the bakery kitchen. The café area is long and narrow, with the rear part receiving little natural light. To address this, a lighting installation made of steel angles and translucent polycarbonate panels was introduced above the bar. Soft linear illumination filters through the semi-transparent surface, bringing both warmth and brightness to the dimmest part of the interior.

桌椅与货架均延续了钢铁这一社区特有的记忆符号，成为空间语言的主线。就餐区的桌子采用镀锌钢格栅与玻璃叠合，透过玻璃可以看到金属结构的肌理，强化了空间的工业特征；货架则使用铝型材与光轴系统搭建，可根据不同产品灵活调节层高，延续了工业逻辑下的理性与可变性。

The furniture and shelving extend the site’s distinctive “steel” memory, forming the main thread of the spatial language. In the dining area, tables combine galvanized steel grating with glass tops, revealing the texture of the underlying metal framework and reinforcing the interior’s industrial character. The display shelves are constructed from aluminum profiles and chrome-plated steel rods, allowing flexible height adjustments that continue the rationality and adaptability inherent in industrial logic.
